Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Oregon State University are spearheading an effort to survey Oregon hunters about lead ammunition. The goal is to gather information from those that would be most affected by any restrictions on lead: Oregon hunters. This month a random sample of 4,200 hunters will begin . Lead ammunition has a large impact on wildlife and human health, and not just from the impact of a bullet on a hunting target. There is no proposal to ban lead ammunition in Oregon, but California banned the use of lead ammunition starting in 2019 and the EPA has been petitioned to ban lead ammunition nationwide.
