David Keiter

ORTWS Board Member (2022-2024)

Current position: Research Biologist, Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife

Biographical Sketch: Hello, everyone! I recently moved back to Oregon and am very excited about the possibility of getting involved in our state’s chapter of The Wildlife Society. I work as a research biologist for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife in Central Point, Oregon. In general, I am passionate about conducting applied research to aid in conservation and management of wildlife populations and believe in the importance of engaging with the general public to further our ability to maintain natural resources for generations to come. If elected to the board, I would work to facilitate communication among wildlife professionals in the state and to develop opportunities for professional development and collaborative research wherever possible.
In the past, I have mostly been engaged in student chapters of TWS (SUNY-ESF and UGA), although I have attended and presented research at the New York, Texas, and Georgia state chapter meetings of TWS and five annual meetings of the national chapter of TWS. I’ve been a member of TWS for over ten years, an Associate Wildlife Biologist for six, and I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of the great work that The Wildlife Society does for students and professionals in the wildlife field!
