A message from the Northwest Association of Environmental Professionals:
At the beginning of the year, we announced NWAEP’s first annual Diversity in the Environmental Professions Scholarship. This scholarship will provide up to $2,000 for NWAEP Membership (if needed) and NAEP conference expenses like registration, travel, and room and board.
To allow as many people as possible to apply, we have made the application process easier and extended the deadline until Monday, February 28, 2022.
We are so excited to offer this scholarship. It is intended to encourage the next generation of environmental professionals and to bring much-needed diversity to our field.
But here’s the tricky thing: because NWAEP is an organization for professionals in the field — people who are already in the industry — we don’t have a lot of students in our midst. Reaching the people we’re trying to help has proven to be difficult.
We need your help!
Do you know any environmental science/STEM students (especially ones from a diverse background)? Are you still in contact with the school or program where you got your degree? Does your alma mater have a Career Center, Community Engagement Center, Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or other such department that could promote this scholarship to their students? If any of these apply to you, we hope you’ll take a moment to pass information about NWAEP’s DEI Scholarship along!
