ORTWS Goals: As President of the Oregon Chapter in 2021-22, I hope to initiate and/or continue discussions centered on equity and diversity in the wildlife profession, and focus on implementing mentorship and/or diversity-centered initiatives within the Chapter. I also hope to continue to shepherd the Chapter through the pandemic, and focus on our traditional role of sharing science and serving as a center for engagement for wildlife students and professionals in Oregon.

Interests (Professional and/or Personal): One of my largest current projects is a telemetry-based study of Rocky Mountain greater sandhill cranes on the wintering grounds in New Mexico in collaboration with the USFWS. In addition to my work as a wildlife ecologist with GSA, I am also a volunteer Firefighter/EMT with Corvallis Fire Department; I enjoy the sense of service and comradery tremendously. I have a truly wonderful spouse from the Caribbean and two young daughters who are the center of my world, and when I have time (which isn’t often anymore) I love to hunt, fish, run rivers, and hike.
