Member Spotlight: Salix Scoresby

Salix Scoresby
ORTWS Secretary (2026 – 2028)

Biographical Sketch: Salix Scoresby is a wildlife ecologist who has been lucky enough to work with some of the most elusive mammals in the West. They have spent time everywhere from the treetops of the old-growth canopy to the precipices of Glacier National Park to caves in the Sonoran Desert to the Northeastern hardwood forests. Their research interests include interspecies interactions, trophic dynamics, disease ecology, wildlife diet and nutrition, fire ecology, and culturally inclusive science.

They recently completed their M.S. and are currently the Land Steward at Vesper Meadow Education Program and an interpretive ranger at Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Salix is a white settler from the Jewish diaspora, a non-binary trans person, and deeply committed to and excited about doing their best to engage in collaborative anti-colonial science.
