Wildlife Technician – Seasonal
The Wildlife Program of Port Blakely Tree Farms L.P. is currently accepting applications for a seasonal wildlife technician for the 2017 field season. This is a full-time, temporary position lasting up to 4 months based on performance. This position will be based out of Port Blakely’s Tumwater, Washington office with fieldwork occurring across southwestern Washington and northwestern Oregon.
Job Description: Primary duties will be to assist company wildlife biologists conducting inventories of aquatic and terrestrial resources and assisting with implementing environmental monitoring programs. In addition, the wildlife technician may be asked to perform office work such as data entry and compilation, GIS mapping, equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
Successful applicants must: 1) be able to hike for extended periods in rough terrain, pack moderate loads up to 40 pounds, wade in streams, often in inclement weather conditions; 2) be able to work independently or in groups; 3) be enthusiastic, responsible and self-motivated; 4) possess a valid driver’s license.
Preference will be given to candidates with natural resource education and prior experience in stream and wildlife field studies.
Dates of employment: March 1 – June 30, 2017, however start and end dates are somewhat flexible. Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and education.
