Primarily, Wes studies cougar ecology by using trail cameras, GPS telemetry collars, and biologgers to understand their role as apex predators in a diverse wildlife community. Before beginning graduate school, he spent years studying cougars in Yellowstone, as well as cougars and deer in northern California, Pacific fisher in the Sierra Nevada, and spotted hyenas in the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.
