Present Position
Ph.D. candidate at Portland State University in the Environmental Science & Management Program and Co-Principle Investigator on the Lava Butte Wildlife Crossing Monitoring project in Bend, OR.
Dissertation Research
- The effectiveness of vertebrate passage and prevention structures: A study of Boeckman Road in Wilsonville
- Characterizing wildlife avoidance of the road
- The effect of artificial light on wildlife use of passage structures
- Keeping your feet dry: cost effective mitigation for an inundated wildlife passage structure
TWS Involvement
After attending and presenting research at previous conferences I became an officer and have served as Vice President Elect and Vice president. I assisted in bringing the national TWS meeting to Portland by serving as the head of the sustainability sub-committee. After a year as President Elect, I am excited to be able to continue my service to the Oregon chapter of The Wildlife Society as President during which I hope to foster increased member participation and continue moving this chapter toward positive ends for wildlife and wildlife professionals.
Former Positions
During my college career I have participated in several internships with organizations and agencies such as USFWS, the city of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, AmeriCorps and the city of Hillsboro. My past has also included a history of service to student run clubs such as my positions as Senior Director of the Student Water Resources Group and Co-President of the Environmental Science and Management Graduate Student Association. In a former life I worked as a technical support representative for various software and internet companies.
