The Oregon Small Woodlands Association (OSWA) and the Oregon Tree Farm System, Inc (OTFS) serve family forest landowners. The organizations have a shared vision of healthy, sustainable forests that meet the goals of landowners and the conservation of Oregon’s natural resources. These non-profit associations provide complementary benefits that promote the values and benefits from sustainably managed family forests.

OSWA’s mission is to promote healthy forests and private ownerships through education, the exchange of ideas, and represent family forest landowners before the Legislature and regulating agencies. The OTFS mission is to assist family forest landowners in managing their lands under sustainability standards that lead to American Tree Farm System forest certification, and to promote healthy forests through recognition of sustainably managed properties.

Principle Duties of the Executive Director
• Provide leadership for both organizations to meet their visions and missions
• Identify and implement opportunities for membership growth
• Develop annual budgets and implement strategies to fund and promote the two organizations
• Serve as the administrator of the American Tree Farm System
• Grow partnerships with other organizations and groups
• Supervise one to two full time employees
• Coordinate the efforts of volunteers
• Provide support for county level OSWA chapters
• Coordinate development and implementation of OSWA’s legislative agenda and lobbying efforts
• Represent OSWA and OTFS on multiple state level committees, boards, and commissions related to private forest management, regulation, and taxation
• Prepare and present testimony on behalf of OSWA and its members before the state legislature

Required qualifications
• Administrative experience – including policy development and staff supervision
• Financial experience — including budget development and monitoring of spending
• Proven written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in word processing, data management and presentations

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Non-profit leadership role
• Grant writing and administration
• Inter-organization collaboration and partnership-building
• Leadership roles and consensus building
• Knowledge of natural resource management

Starting salary commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits include family medical and dental insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. This position requires travel 40% of the time.
