What you will do:

• Serve as co-lead for ODFW regarding ESA Recovery Planning, including the following functions: (1) key coordination role with the Governor’s Natural Resource Office and (2) key role coordinating collaborative work with NOAA Fisheries, the States of Washington and Idaho, Tribal co-managers, other state and local agencies, and Stakeholder Teams.

• Represent ODFW and Oregon on intra- and interagency on policy and technical teams related to habitat protection and restoration. Serve as Fish Division’s lead on climate change issues. Represent ODFW and Oregon on intra- and interagency teams addressing predator management in relationship to marine mammals and birds.

• Function as a key member of the Fish Leadership Team; critically evaluate alternative interpretations of scientific data, assess implications of alternative policies, resolve internal agency interpretations of science and policy, and effectively recommend Agency position and policy strategies in all areas of personal and professional proficiency. Respond verbally and in writing to letters, phone calls, and other inquiries related to areas of expertise, often on topics of great significance to Oregon and ODFW policy. Provide information for use by the Information and Education Division or other Department units; provide critical evaluation of written material produced by these work units prior to release. Keep up to date on the latest research and management publications dealing with, or applicable to, salmonids. Develop partnerships and networks within and outside of ODFW to develop and implement strategies and plans to conserve and monitor fish resources.
