• Represent ODFW on PSC’s Coho Technical Committee, PFMC’s Salmon Technical Team, the Southern Resident Killer Whale Committee, and the Southern Oregon/Northern California Coast Coho Committee, and KFMC’s Technical Advisory Team. Co-author annual reports (Review of Ocean Salmon Fisheries, Stock Abundance Analysis, Analysis of Proposed Regulatory Options, Analysis of Adopted Regulations). Work with computer salmon harvest models to evaluate impacts of fishery management options and strategies on resource yields and harvest allocation. Evaluate proposed fishery management plan amendments. Determine production and escapement levels for fisheries and stocks. Analyze stocks for sound conservation and management of the resource and sustainable fisheries. Review, comment, and make recommendations on actions, positions, and policies relative to salmon fishery management. Prepare special reports as necessary.
• Serve as ODFW and/or OR-PFMC representative to ocean fishers, other agencies, organizations, and public forums. Participate in setting and conducting meetings with salmon fishers, the Oregon Salmon Commission and other organizations, and the public to explain fishery regulations and issues. Conduct “outreach” communication activities. Prepare informational products, draft responses to written inquiries, and respond to fishers, fishing industry organizations, other agencies and the general public by email and/or by phone to provide information on fishery management and regulation issues.
